Home Emergency Cover Explained

Does home emergency cover include boiler cover?

Home emergency cover and boiler cover are two different types of policy. My Home Essentials covers plumbing, drainage, home electrics, home security, and pest infestation; boiler and central heating cover are not included. If you are looking for home emergency and boiler cover under one policy, My Home Plus combines both.

Are the My Home, My Home Plus or My Home Essentials products the same as home insurance?

No. “My Home” and “My Home Plus” products provide cover for boiler, central heating and other (for example plumbing and electrics) emergencies and breakdowns. “My Home Essentials” provides cover for plumbing, electrics, drainage, home security and pest infestation problems.

These products do not provide cover for damage caused by events normally included in Home Insurance policies like Fire, Theft, Storm, Flooding, Subsidence, Escape of Water. If you need Home Insurance for your buildings, contents and personal possessions, please contact another provider.

How do home emergency cover claims work?

When an emergency or breakdown occurs, notify your provider as soon as possible — most policies require contact within 24 hours. Your provider will attempt to resolve the issue remotely; if not, an engineer will be arranged to visit your property and carry out the repair. With 24|7 Home Rescue, you can report a claim anytime via the claims helpline, My App, or My Account online.*

What happens if my home emergency cannot be resolved on the first visit?

Our engineer will aim to resolve the fault on the first visit; however, if the repair is complex or requires replacement parts, additional visits may be needed.
